چکیده

We apply a local cross-correlation method to the study of correlating brake sounds perceived inside a car to the vibration produced by the brakes at the source. The method allows one to correlate the time-varying spectral properties of two vibration or acoustic sources. The aim is to identify the possible objectionable sounds by determining the time-varying frequencies that the two sounds have in common. The method utilizes cross-timefrequency distributions, and in particular we use the crossspectrogram. Examples are given to show the effectiveness of the method.

Brake Analysis and NVH Optimization Using MSC . NASTRAN

Brake Analysis and NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) Optimization have become critically important areas of application in the Automotive Industry. Brake Noise and Vibration costs approximately $1Billion/year in warranty work in Detroit alone. NVH optimization is now increasingly being used to predict the vehicle tactile and acoustic responses in relation to the established targets for desig...

AUTOMOTIVE INTERIOR CABIN NOISE ANALYSIS AND OPTIMIZATION USING SEA AND RSM

In this paper, the acoustic analysis of noise has been done in automotive cabin at high speed. High-frequency noise sources are applied separately to the roof and floor panels as well as to the windshield of the vehicle, which has been investigated at both the driver's and rear passenger's head. The most important panels that have the most noise emission are specified. In order to analyze high ...

Instability prediction of a fully updated brake system with uncertainty in contact conditions

Brake squeal, as friction-induced audible noise above 1 kHz to 20 kHz, is a major concern to automotive manufacturers because of noise, vibration and harshness performance and warranty-claim related costs. The prediction of brake squeal is as difficult as ever due to nonlinearities, uncertainty boundary and operating conditions. The exact contact conditions between pad linings with rotor are of...

Gain-scheduled wheel slip control in automotive brake systems

A wheel slip controller is developed and experimentally tested in a car equipped with electromechanical brake actuators and a brake-by-wire ABS system. A gain scheduling approach is taken, where the vehicle speed is viewed as a slowly time-varying parameter and the model is linearized about the nominal wheel slip. Gain matrices for the different operating conditions are designed using an LQR ap...

A performance evaluation of an automotive magnetorheological brake design with a sliding mode controller

The aim of this work is to develop a magnetorheological brake (MRB) system that has performance advantages over the conventional hydraulic brake system. The proposed brake system consists of rotating disks immersed in a MR fluid and enclosed in an electromagnet, which the yield stress of the fluid varies as a function of the magnetic field applied by the electromagnet. The controllable yield st...
